About the Founder
Nouran Khedr is an architect specialized in Architecture and Environmental Design, with a deep passion for historical heritage and storytelling. An Obelisque Design Award recipient, she founded MAQAM in 2014 to create contemporary pieces rooted in identity, crafted from natural materials by skilled Egyptian artisans. Her work blends Middle Eastern heritage with modern lines, reflecting both tradition and contemporary living, informed by her studies in Bio-Geometry and balanced, meaningful design.
Her Design Philosophy:
Created by her, our brand is shaped by her design philosophy, Herissance a contemporary language that reinterprets heritage through modern expression. Rooted in cultural memory and craftsmanship, Herissance goes beyond imitation, translating inherited narratives into refined forms, materials, and details suited to contemporary living. Through this vision, Nouran’s designs balance past and present, allowing heritage to exist not as ornament, but as a subtle, enduring presence within each piece.
